This is part of a collection inspired by the English seaside town of Lyme Regis, famous for its fossils and prehistoric discoveries, as well as other dinosaurs, and was commissioned by the Lyme Regis Museum.
Cut from cherry wood and based on an original design, the plesiosaur is engraved with a stylised pattern inspired by the dinosaur's skeleton. The plesiosaur was a marine dinosaur, and two of their almost complete fossilised skeletons were discovered by palaeontologist Mary Anning along the Dorset coast in the early 19th century.
Cherry wood has a lovely rich warm hue and goes really well with all fabrics and colours.
Like all Shark Alley brooches, the plesiosaur is light and easy to wear.
The brooch comes attractively presented in recyclable packaging, making it a great gift.
Due to the natural variations in the wood, each plesiosaur may differ very slightly from the one shown, but will be just as pretty.
